so even if I wanted to allow you to play my 2013 copy while I was playing DE I cannot not on steam. and even if family sharing is enabled no two peope can acces the same account at the same time. Games are no longer seen as books, worthy to keep forever. Sadly the evil steam arrived in started as dlc on fysical disks meaning your ability to secondhand trade games was now gone. the devs would have ample anti piracy that way and we still our full ownership. this could easely have been continued by selling games on usb sticks or fladh drives that could be made that installation was no longer needed. But that was where 2d hand sales games after all were not bound to an account all you needed was the fysical disk to play. Yes the downside was a game would usually go out of stock shortly after hitting that lowest price. and unlike steam sales available year round.Īs such I always have seen steam sales not as discounts but as the only time steam offers prices that are normal though still a bit expensive while overcharging you the rest of the year with a punishing price. *default retail prices are and were about 15% cheaper than steams best sale prices. ![]() Ofcourse for consumers this is not true in the old retail days BASE prices would drop over time from 52 euro at release for game and 26 euro at release for a dlc to a gold edition containing it all for 3 euro. ![]() Neither of those warrant a discount in the eyes of the devs as they see discounts as promitions to boost sales and they do not want anyone being tempted to buy this instead of DE. *if your hardware is really REALLY old the DE version might not run. it is harder to see items like goldmines and relics on that map compared to this version. *1 you may not like the DE more natural coloursceme. They clearly don't want anyone still buying this.Īnd quite frankly there is no reason people should want too. Update like that 4k suppport and automated reseeding of farms, but also later balancing of civs with nerfs and buffs and even the abitity to buy future dlc was on purpose never added to this version. so it was mostly scamming the people already owning all DLC for this versionnow forced to fork out money again for something they already owned.įor all others the switch to DE was effectively a discount on this versions DLC. buying DE was as cheap as buying 1 normally priced DLC. Given how DE was at 50% discount for all HD owners. It is unlkely to ever get sales ever again.īasicly what they did was bundle the 3 dlc into the main game to make a minor 4k patch into a new sellable product. Even when all age of empires games were for sale this one was not.
